- "Two is one, one is none" applied spatially: a small cache (water filter, fire, food bars, cash, copies of docs on USB) at the out-of-area contact's house, at work, and/or buried waterproof (ammo can/pipe with desiccant) along your evacuation route. If the house is lost to fire/flood — the most likely total-loss events — you're diminished, not destroyed.
- Skills redundancy audit: for each critical system (water, fire, food, medical, power, radio), name TWO family members who can run it. Train the gaps — that list is your real vulnerability map.
Caches and redundancy
Two is one, one is none. Cache small kits elsewhere, and train two people per critical skill.
